Two orange chairs and a spotlight
A conversation with Client Partner,
Aimee Mitchell
Hi, I'm Aimee and I work in the Government and Transport sector of Sopra Steria. I’ve recently been promoted to Client Partner, running a portfolio of accounts in the agricultural industry. My role is all about building trust and relationships with clients, making sure we understand their goals, needs and challenges, so that we can deliver the best possible service for them both now and in the future.

How did you start your career and how did you get to where you are now?

Like many mums, I took a career break after having children and found myself restarting my career in my 30s. I didn’t have any IT experience but I started working as a temp for an IT helpdesk and I absolutely loved it! Within a few years I was Head of Service Desk, responsible for over 40 accounts. I worked in several operational roles before then moving into client management, but I will always have a soft spot for the service desk!

As a single mum, it can sometimes be tricky to focus on your career and get the balance between work and home. However, I feel Sopra Steria has recognised this and given me support and flexibility, which has definitely helped me to achieve my career goals.

Have you had any development opportunities since being at Sopra Steria?

Absolutely! There are so many great development programmes designed to support people at every stage of their career. I was lucky enough to be chosen for the Emerging Leaders programme, which is a 6-month course designed to deepen your leadership knowledge and help you take the next step in your career. After completing the course, I was invited to join the Talent Alumni which is a network for ongoing development and for sharing experiences with people from across the whole organisation.

Where is your dream holiday destination and why?

I’m actually living my dream in January and have booked to go to Finland to see the Northern lights… which have since appeared across most of the UK. I guess I could have saved myself a lot of money and potentially frostbite, but something tells me it’ll still be worth it.
