A conversation with Solution Owner, Sophie Sterling
Sophie is a Solution Owner within Strategic Sales, where she leads the development of our bid solutions in response to new opportunities.


So Sophie, how long have you been at Sopra Steria and what made you join?

I joined Sopra Steria in 2023 because I could see how the company makes a positive impact to the lives of UK citizens through the services it delivers. I also had a fabulous experience at interview and felt that I really made a connection with my hiring manager; she completely put me at ease, and I found the interview and selection process really positive from start to finish.

What’s something you didn't know about Sopra Steria until you started working here?

I'm still regularly surprised to find out about the breadth and diverse nature of contracts we deliver!

Have you had any opportunities to learn or develop?

There are lots of learning and development opportunities available to colleagues across Sopra Steria. Since joining, I've undertaken a significant amount of internal and external training which has definitely had a positive impact on my ability and confidence in my day-to-day role. Every employee has a target of achieving 6 days of learning per year, but our overall totals can end up being much higher than that.

What's the best career advice you can give to others?

“Stop telling yourself you’re not qualified, good enough or worthy. Growth happens when you start doing the things you’re not qualified to do.” ― Steven Bartlett, The Diary of a CEO: The 33 Laws of Business and Life.

This quote resonates with me as I think we often look for reasons why we’re not qualified or experienced enough when actually you will never have the experience unless you find new situations to challenge yourself.

Where's your dream holiday destination and why?

My dream holiday destination is the Maldives because it's the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to. It’s so peaceful and my idea of heaven!
