Two orange chairs and a spotlight
A conversation with Becky, the AI Consulting Director for Sopra Steria Next
In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, the influence of AI is undeniable. As it becomes integrated into nearly every aspect of our lives, the insight of our subject-matter experts is more valuable than ever. Our AI leaders are grounded in years of experience, and focused on shaping the future. Let's meet Becky Davis, AI Consulting Director at Sopra Steria Next UK.

Tell us a bit about yourself and what your day-to-day looks like

I’m Becky Davis, Consulting Director for AI at Sopra Steria Next UK, where I lead transformative AI consulting engagements across public, private, and defence sectors.
My day-to-day revolves around understanding our customers' biggest challenges and leveraging our talented people and AI technologies to solve them. From setting strategy to overseeing a talented team, collaboration is key – whether it’s across our 4,000-strong European team or with customers, making sure we deliver AI solutions that drive real value.

What is your background and what was your pathway into the technology sector?

I’ve always been passionate about public service and the potential of technology to transform outcomes for society. I started my technology career at Southampton City Council, leading digital transformation projects. From there, I moved into my Consulting Career at Capita Transformation and then with Sopra Steria Next, gradually taking on more complex leadership roles. Today, as Consulting Director for AI at Sopra Steria Next, I am excited and thrilled to be at the forefront of the next technology and transformation wave.

What do you see as the main challenges facing organisations today when it comes to adopting AI?

There are two big challenges as I see it right now; AI-ready infrastructure (data, data and more data) and cultural shift. Many organisations struggle with where to start, how to scale, and ensuring AI delivers real value. It’s not just about technology; it’s about embedding AI responsibly and effectively, meeting regulatory standards, and building trust. Business leaders need to work closely with trusted partners to navigate these challenges.

How do you think emerging technology will impact people’s lives?

AI will reshape how we live and work in ways we have not imagined yet. We already see its impact in healthcare, where it helps improve diagnoses, and in customer service, where it enhances interactions. As AI matures, it will boost productivity and creativity across sectors, freeing people from repetitive tasks to focus on more meaningful work. It’s not just about efficiency – it’s about improving the quality of life through personalised, human-centred experiences.

How is Sopra Steria Next different from other companies in the industry?

Sopra Steria Next combines human insight with AI innovation to deliver real outcomes. We don’t implement AI for the sake of it; we focus on tangible, ethical solutions that drive business results. Here in the UK we know how to run operations at scale. Match that with 4,000 data and AI specialists and 500 dedicated AI experts, we guide our clients at every step of their AI journey, ensuring they benefit from AI in ways that align with their goals and values.

What is your vision for the future and how would you like to shape the experience for our customers?

I can see a future where AI integrates seamlessly into every business, enhancing both innovation and the human experience – it’s not that far away. My goal is to make AI accessible, trusted, and impactful. By building AI solutions that address today’s challenges and prepare businesses for the future, I want to help our customers thrive in an AI-driven world, where technology empowers people and elevates their work.

Who is your inspiration? Who has changed the way you think about the future?

AI thought leaders like Mo Gawdat, Ethan Mollick, and Brené Brown have reshaped my thinking over the past 18 months. Mo’s focus on human happiness in an AI world, Ethan's insights on AI’s role in learning, and Brené’s emphasis on vulnerability in leadership inspire me. Their teachings have reinforced the importance of leading with empathy, embracing innovation fearlessly, and fostering a culture of trust – key elements in my approach to shaping a future powered by AI.
